Dialects in The Celebrated Jummping frog of Calavera¨s County
·

Is dialect a help or a hindrance?
A dialect is a help because it makes the readers understand much better each character and it makes each one unique.

What resources does it make available for scene setting and characterization?
They help you understand the place where the story is having place and th way characters behave because of the vocabulary that is used. It makes esier for readers to visualize and imagine the story.

Does it enlarge or restrict one's vocabulary?
It enlarges the vocabulary of the reader because it shows them different ways of speaking of people from many different social classes.

·         How does dialect influence plot development and narration?
Dialects give a personality to each character and they make the story be different acording to their behavior. Dialects also affect the way the story is written because of the vocabulary used.

Does it limit one to the "and then, and then" connection of incident to incident typical of oral storytelling
No, the author writes the story as if it was told in person by another person.

Does it open opportunities for sliding easily off on a tangent?
Yes, as it is told by someone else, this person talks about different stuff which is generally related to other things than the main story.

·         Comment on Twain's use of dialect, what goes into the dialect he creates—misspellings? grammatical mistakes? inventive punctuation? loose sentence structure? colloquial turns of phrase?
He creates different dialects in order to make each part of the story different to have settings acording to characters. The structure he uses is different from the one used in many other stories in part because of the creativity that he used while writing the story and in part because of the time when he wrote the story. The story is different from others because of the coloquial vocabulary with which he gives personallity to characters and which was not commonly seen in this type of stories before.Besides this he has some spelling and grammar mistakes such as contracting words that shouldn´t be contractions which create the same effect mentioned before.
